Practical Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Session 2 - the basics of GIS Online

This workshop is the second in a series of four sessions aimed towards promoting the use of Geographic Imaging Systems (GIS) in the Arts and Sciences. We will focus on the open-source, completely free GIS app known as QGIS and learn some of the most basic GIS tools so you can make your maps better. This session will review some basic tools of GIS. We will cover topics such as working with raster and vector data, loading a baseman, loading geographic data, and layering data.

Participants are highly encouraged to watch the recording of session one. Participants also should download the long-term release of QGIS as we will be interacting with data on our own computers. Please contact the workshop conveener, Zach Silvia for details.
