Graduate Community of Learning: Mapping/Spatial Analysis In-Person

Are you interested in spatial data or developing your custom map-making skills? Join us for a workshop on digital tools for spatial analysis and mapping, which will showcase Carto, an intuitive and accessible web platform that allows you to plot and interact with your locational data on a map and use different analytical tools to answer questions about your dataset. In addition to Carto, the workshop will introduce some online resources that allow you to create and annotate your own maps for teaching and research, including StoryMap, Odyssey, and Leaflet. The workshop will also include a brief introduction to the basics of spatial documentation in the field for archaeologists using ArcGIS. We will discuss some of the practical benefits of GIS for the field as well as some of its limitations for archaeological mapping.

This session will be led by Rachel Starry, Zachary Silvia, and Andrew Tharler.
