Intro to HTML In-Person

The Digital Scholarship program will offer an introductory workshop for individuals curious about using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and drafting .html files using a text editor. Understanding the rudiments of HTML will allow attendees to create a simple webpage. It will also expand the ways in which one can interact with what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) editors, such as the ones in WordPress and other web platforms.

The workshop leader will provide an overview of what HTML is, how to create an .html file, and basic markup syntax for tasks including text formatting, hyperlinking, inserting images, and constructing tables.

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their personal laptops. They can follow along by using a text editing program. Most computers have a simple text editor installed. You may wish to use Wordpad (PC), TextEdit (Mac), or Sublime Text Editor (PC/Mac). To view your files, you will need to have an internet browser installed (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer). No coding experience needed.
